To fight poverty in a more comprehensive way, microfinance can be associated with other factors. With Microfinance Plus Programs, PlaNet Finance China can leverage the Microfinance Institutions' network and resources to tackle other critical issues such as health, environment, education and rural areas development.
Such programs afford excellent opportunities for the private sector to partner with PlaNet Finance and Chinese government entities and thereby enhance their CSR profile.
Leveraging the existing MFIs' infrastructure to enable better development of rural areas.
Leveraging the existing MFIs' infrastructure to implement awareness and disease prevention campaigns: work with pharmaceutical companies to devise sustainable pilot projects to improve healthcare access for lower income populations: to explore microinsurance mechanisms for healthcare coverage.
Leveraging the existing MFIs' infrastructure to provide training to microentrepreneurs, especially women.
Leveraging the existing MFI's infrastructure to implement programs raising awareness and making positive impact on areas of renewable energies, waste management and biodiversity.
In particular, PlaNet Finance China has developed a focus on Microfinance + Environment and the introduction and development of renewable energy technologies to rural populations through microfinancing efforts. Through the European Commission Tongwei I project, PlaNet Finance China helped identify biogas as a suitable renewable energy alternative for Gansu province, and subsequently aided in the successful implementation of biogas facilities to individual households around Tongwei County through offering micro-credits. Project Tongwei II aims to further develop the work established in Tongwei I, and seeks to spur entrepreneurial efforts in the development of renewable energy technologies. PlaNet Finance continues to seek new rural development projects that can introduce and develop renewable energy technologies through microfinance.
