In knowing that SME (small and medium-size enterprises) are an important factor in the city’s economic development, Baoshang Bank [PF: which used to be known as the Baotou City Commercial Bank] especially its science and technology branch, is emphasizing innovation in its development. Since the start-up of micro-enterprise loans on June 19th 2006, Baoshang Bank has taken many effective measures to serve small-scale enterprises by letting account managers introduce micro-credit products from door to door. Not only do these measures bring great encouragement to small-size business clients, but also change their opinion that banks used to set too high of requirements making it difficult to get loans. Furthermore, the new efforts to lend to SMEs solve the problem of micro-loan clients previously not having access to loans, and are highly appreciated by the majority of self-employed people and small-size business customers.

This year Baoshang Bank is serving these customers and successfully transferring the loans of minor enterprises to small ones. This helps small enterprises overcome the difficulties of obtaining loans, promotes their development, increases employment and contributes to the creation of a harmonious society. In the first half of this year, Baoshang Bank was very successful in its micro-loan business, in turn growing its deposit and loan business rapidly. In just the science and technology branch, the deposit is RMB 1.33 billion, loans 251.61 million and profit 18.84 million.

As is typical in the development of micro-lending in the recent years, young staff of the science and technology branch have actively worked together to earn the Youth Civilization title for the organization. Through consistent efforts, they have received a series of honorary titles such as Youth Civil Service of the autonomous region, Second-Class National Title in Administration and Management and the National Youth Civilization Title. In particular, the female staff won the Civil Service Award of the autonomous region.
