This coming Tuesday June 22, 2010, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China, American Chamber of Commerce and Swisscham Beijing will jointly host a seminar titled "Development of Microfinance in China". The seminar aims to expose what opportunities for involvement from the wider business community are available to enable people in China to lift themselves from poverty. The event which will feature a panel discussion and a Q&A session. Panelists will represent three major players in China's microfinance sector: 1) microfinance peer-to-peer platform Wokai, 2) microfinance advisory services provider PlaNet Finance and 3) microfinance practitioner China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.
PlaNet Finance China's own Consultant, Justin Zhang and Director of Administration and Finance, Elaine Chou, will be presenting on "Bridging Gaps within Microfinance: Bridging Corporations to the Base of the Pyramid". Through our presentation, participants will gain insight into the current situation of poverty in China, how you and your corporation can get involved with microfinance and how we work at the grassroots-level to meet the needs of the "base of the pyramid". Case studies of past and current PFC projects will also be presented.
